JOE GAROFOLI
Founder, Chief Executive Officer

Joe Garofoli is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Roc Global, an international investment banking business focused on serving clients within the Clean Energy and Sustainable Metals & Mining sectors. He is responsible for managing the firm’s global operations and strategic decisions as well as originating and executing transactions. Joe has differentiated the firm’s Sustainable Metals & Mining business by focusing on critical minerals including base and battery metals and industrial and specialty minerals opportunities. He has successfully led and closed transactions across multiple jurisdictions and disciplines including M&A deals in the US and Chile, equity placements in Canada and Brazil and project finance/debt advisories throughout the Americas.

Before founding Roc Global in 2011, Joe co-founded and led KBC Financial Products convertible, credit and derivatives businesses and formed and managed D.E. Shaw & Co.’s global equity-linked business in New York. Previously he was President of Cresvale International, a specialist in convertible securities. Joe serves on the board of Astrea Farnihas e Olios S.A., a leading independent agricultural recycling business in Brazil, and is a member of Leadership Committee of Americares, a non-profit emergency response and global health organization. He is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire Whittemore School of Business and Economics.

ARTHUR MUSCIO
Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer

Art Muscio is Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Roc Global. He is responsible for implementing the firm’s strategic objectives and managing the firm’s global operations and infrastructure functions as well as assisting in deal execution and due diligence.

Before co-founding Roc Global in 2011, Art was previously Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at KBC Financial Products and headed and managed the U.S.-based infrastructure and back-office groups. Before that, Art was Finance, Operations and Controls Director at D. E. Shaw & Co. and Senior Manager at both Ernst & Young and Spicer & Oppenheim. Art’s professional experience includes accounting, finance, treasury, operations, middle office, compliance, regulatory, treasury, tax and human resources.

Art received his B.S. degree in Accounting from New York University Stern School of Business. He is a Chartered Global Management Accountant and a Certified Public Accountant. Art holds the Series 27 license and serves as the firm’s FINOP.

PETER ROBERT
Managing Director, Clean Energy

Peter Robert is a Managing Director at Roc Global and Co-Head of the Clean Energy practice. He joined Roc Global in 2017 and was the founding member of the firms’ Clean Energy business. Peter has over 30 years of capital markets and investment banking experience. He has led the origination of several capital raising and M&A financial advisory mandates in Chile and the U.S. in the power, renewables and water infrastructure spaces.

Prior to joining Roc Global, Peter was a Managing Director at BBVA in New York where he led financial sponsor coverage in the energy and infrastructure sectors in the Americas. In that capacity he worked very closely with private equity and infrastructure fund clients on more than 50 transactions, mostly in project finance, in power, renewables, natural gas pipelines, LNG terminals and transport infrastructure representing in aggregate billions of dollars of financing.

Previously, spanning a period of 20 years, he held several leadership positions in capital markets in New York at Banque Indosuez, Bear Stearns, Morgan Stanley, CAL FP (a Lazard affiliate) and Citigroup where he built and managed capital markets and strategic equity derivatives businesses.

Peter serves on the advisory board of Cornell Financial Engineering Manhattan (CFEM) and H2Sur, Inc, a hydrogen engineering startup. He has a Bachelor's degree in Physics and a Master's degree in Operations Research, both from Cornell University.

SUNIL MOSER
Managing Director, Clean Energy

Sunil Moser is a Managing Director at Roc Global and Co-Head of the Clean Energy practice. He has over 16 years of investment banking experience covering the Power, Renewables and Energy Infrastructure sectors including financial sponsors, independent power producers, renewable energy companies, LNG producers and utilities. At Roc Global, he focuses on capital formation and mergers & acquisitions. Before joining Roc Global, Sunil was Managing Director at Truist Securities (and its predecessor SunTrust Robinson Humphrey) and head of the Power and Renewables investment banking practice. While at Truist, Sunil created top tier banking relationships with corporate clients and financial sponsors, and executed a number of milestone transactions in the power sector, including Truist’s first left lead bank financings, its first underwritten Term Loan B, its first M&A advisory transaction and one of the first merchant wind project financings in the country.

Prior to Truist, Sunil spent over a decade at Credit Suisse in the Global Energy investment banking group, where he was responsible for unregulated Power and Renewables industry coverage and deal execution. Some of the marquee deals Sunil was responsible for include the financing of Freeport LNG’s Train 2 Liquefaction Project (winner of IJ Global “Overall Global Deal of the Year” and Project Finance International “Americas Deal of the Year”), buyside advisor on the take private of Primary Energy Recycling, twice advising on the sale of Midland Cogeneration Venture (the largest gas-fired cogeneration plant in the United States), sell-side advisor to Energy Capital Partners on the sale of NextLight Renewable Power and financial advisor to Brightsource on the equity raise for Ivanpah (one of the largest concentrated solar thermal plants in the world).

Sunil received an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a BA from the University of Chicago.

John Zhang is Managing Director at Roc Global based in the Greater New York area. He joined Roc Global in 2019 and has over 25 years of experience in capital markets and investment banking businesses. At Roc Global, he has been involved with and successfully executed a variety of capital formation and M&A transactions in the Metals and Mining sector. He is also responsible for liaising with Asian institutional investors.

Before joining Roc Global, he was a founding partner at a global macro hedge fund and commodity trading advisor. He also served as a Managing Director at Bank of America, Citigroup, and Credit Agricole Lazard Financial Products, advising clients on complex capital market transactions in the US and throughout Asia. He started his career as a derivatives trader and convertible bond arbitrager in New York , as well as in Europe. He also serves on the investment committee of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation.

John graduated summa cum laude with bachelor’s degrees in mathematics, statistics, and economics from the University of Rochester and earned a master’s degree in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. John is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Ryan’s focus is performing research within the Metals & Mining, Power and Infrastructure sectors. Over the past five years, Ryan has done analysis on assets and projects for the purpose of providing M&A and project finance advice in the natural resources sector. Ryan and his team are involved in all aspects of the deal process including due diligence, market research, financial modeling, developing marketing materials and idea generation on behalf of Roc Global clients. Prior to working at Roc Global, he was a financial analyst at Verizon Media. Ryan holds a Masters in Economics from New York University and a Bachelor in Economics from the University of Chicago.

Matthew has lead firm research efforts in battery metals, rare earths, and other specialty topics. Matthew holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of New Hampshire.

Tom is responsible for deal execution, financial analysis, due diligence, market research, idea generation and client support. He works with the Clean Energy team and primarily focuses on advanced or operating stage companies within the Clean Energy sector. Tom has held various commodities trading roles, covering oil & gas, power, and environmental products. Prior to joining Roc Global, Tom worked for ACT Commodities as a Sales Trader, Citi Global Commodities as a Transaction Service Analyst and Coquest, Inc as an Analyst in the Energy Group for the Institutional Commodities Futures Brokerage business. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Southern Methodist University.

Jose Manuel joined Roc Global in 2021 as a Sustainable Mining Advisor. He has spent his career in Latin and North America advising corporate, institutional and significant private clients in the U.S. and Latin America. Jose Manuel has been practicing law and business development in Santiago for more than 20 years. Previously, he was in house counsel for Fortune 500 mining companies like Placer Dome (part of Barrick Gold now) and MIM Holdings Pty. Ltd., (part of Glencore Xstrata now) where he helped in the building of world-class mines and mining projects. He brings to Roc Global experience in mining project finance, mining royalty markets and mining exploration.

Jose Manuel holds a degree in Law from the University of Chile and was a Fellow in the Master of Sciences in Foreign Service Program at Georgetown University. He is fluent in English and Spanish and can converse in Portuguese and French

Rodrigo Violic joined Roc Global in 2021 as a Clean Energy Advisor. He brings to Roc Global experience in project finance for the renewable energy, mining and infrastructure sectors. He has over 25 years of banking experience in project finance in Chile and UK, participating in more than 100 transactions. Between 2005 and 2021 he was Head of Project Finance of Banco BICE and previously worked as Vice President of Resource Banking at the British merchant bank N.M. Rothschild & Sons Ltd. in London.

He is a professor at the Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Technologies and Management post-graduate programme of Universidad Adolfo Ibañez in Santiago, Chile. Rodrigo is a Commercial Engineer from Universidad Católica de Chile.
